On Monday night, Scott Adcox and Trace Sharp (yes, that would be me) appeared on the DontgoMovement radio network on a show hosted by Ken Marrero of Blue Collar Muse fame.

It was an hour-long blog talk radio show where we were interviewed about NewsTechZilla, our long-term plans and what we are trying to do with this new project.

That’s what Alexa Scordato did.

Looking for a new job, Alexa Scordato didn’t email or call her contacts about possible openings. Instead, she messaged them via the social-networking Web site Twitter.com.

Her brief message: “Hey there! Looking for a Social Media job up in Boston. Are you guys doing any entry level hires?”

Within a week, she had an interview. Within two weeks, she had a job.

One reason is that is how Scott and I started communicating. In the beginning it was 140 characters of “Hey, you are interesting” sort of tweets to him helping me out of jam or two when my brain went on hiatus about some tech questions regarding my blog.

I guess you could say that Twitter inadvertently started NewsTechZilla.

How are you using Twitter?

Well, if we don’t, no one will.

NewsTechZilla received a wonderful write-up about this new endeavor in the Knoxville News Sentinel in the Sunday edition.

Two Tennessee bloggers, one a journalist and the other a techie, are launching a Web site for citizen journalists and others who need technical assistance navigating the pixels.

Trace Sharp, managing editor of the Weakley County Press, and Scott Adcox, a Knoxville techie who built his first Web site in 1995, are hosting NewsTechZilla, http://www.newstechzilla.com.

Sharp offers the bottom line of the endeavor: “Our plans are to write about what we know, what we want to learn and hopefully be a guide for other journalists trying to be viable in new markets. There is some fantastic information out in the blogosphere that we will spotlight all in one convenient location.”

Adcox called it, simply, “citizen journalism for journalists.”
