Not only am I horrible at image editing, but I also do it so infrequently that it’s hard to justify spending a bunch of money on Photoshop. Still, when I have some work to do, I like having the tools available to take care of the job. ReadWriteWeb has written a review of several FREE image editors and stacked them up against Photoshop. I was a big fan of GiMP already, but it’s nice to know there are some alternatives out there.

I’m like you and frequently don’t need a lot of filters, etc., just something to crop a pic for facebook or a blog. http://pixlr.com/editor/ works well for that too.
