Has Twitter found a way to make money?

It looks like Twitter is slowly developing a way to make money, based upon its popularity and usage : ExecTweets. ExecTweets is a Twitter powered page that pulls in a collection of posts, or “tweets,” written by corporate executives, and features branding from Microsoft. ExecTweets is operated by John Battelle’s online advertising firm Federated Media.

I noticed on Twitter today that the definition of the day is ExecTweets.

Just saying.

    Actually, starting yesterday, Twitter is rotating advertisements for several different services – Tweetie, Twittervision, and ExecTweets. Tweetie founder has gone on record saying that he is not paying Twitter for the feature space, but rather that they approached him about it – http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/03/23/twitter-opens-the-revenue-faucet-starts-serving-ads/

    Now, it’s likely a ramp up to advertising, and ExecTweets may be paying Twitter for the placement… but at the same time let’s not jump the gun.

    I’m with you on that one. That’s why I ended the post the way I did.
    I keep wondering how the business model for Twitter will work. I guess I would pay for it, but I don’t honestly know how this is going to work.
