Craig McGill, who has a heck of a site and I recommend you go take a look at it immediately, has written a guide for journalists on understanding PR. The guide talks about transitioning from journalism into a career in public relations.
It’s good stuff.
It’s something I never wanted to write, but with the mounting clear-outs of newsrooms and other organisation, I thought it might be handy to write up a quick, basic guide to PR to try and get rid of some of those illusions reporters have about the industry – The Redundant Journalist Guide to PR.
At some point I may make a wiki out of it, but I just wanted it out there so that reporters could have a look and see some points they may not have considered before the decide on jumping ship or not.
