One of my best friends is a cartoonist who supplements her income by designing ads. I can’t imagine how hard it is for her to sit listening to advertisers who want 1,000 words in a 3 by 7 ad. I’m sure it is daunting.
Cartoonists are paying attention to the newspaper crisis in this country. Yes, I did call it a crisis. I’ve said before, and I will say it again, that I don’t think newspapers are dead but they are going to have to reinvent how they do things.
I offer you Brewster Rockit from yesterday’s edition. Do we still call them editions? I must ponder this.
Tim Rickard is the cartoonist here and his current arc is on the news industry which is biting, and quite funny, about what is happening right now.
